The Vigne Lomanegra line represents the maximum expression of biodynamic agriculture applied to wine.
The native Montepulciano d’Abruzzo, Trebbiano d’Abruzzo and Pecorino , accompanied by the international Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Merlot, Moscato and Sauvignon . The white label is obtained from the grapes of the individual vineyards specifically destined for this line, while the black label represents a further selection of the highest quality, only the best grapes of the best vintages are chosen to arrive in these precious bottles. An extremely reduced production, also to maximize quality and offer a totally new experience to an audience of wine enthusiasts interested in exploring new visions.
Each of these nine monovarietal wines bears the name of the vine with which it is vinified in purity. The grape is seen reflected in the wine as in a mirror: the biodynamic viticulture method and the oenological choices ensure that the characteristics of the fruit are not minimally affected and that the wine authentically represents the single vineyard of a few hectares from which it derives. , whose geographic coordinates are shown on the label.
The geographical location is also at the center of the other elements of the label: the hand-dashed lines and the compass recall the map of a hidden treasure, which guides the adventurer towards the Cru , the central element. The wood, the natural element, almost comes out of the bottle with a rush to reach us, and at the same time precisely identifies the shape of the vineyard, set in a unique terroir. By combining the eight bottles, it is possible to reassemble, as in a puzzle, the map of the entire Pietranico Estate, its uncontaminated territory, the natural oasis of beauty and biodiversity.
Fully expressing the territory in all its facets and its unique character is one of the two fundamental ideas that are the basis of Vigne Lomanegra. The other idea underlying the production philosophy that inspires this line is to work in the most natural way possible .
Biodynamic agriculture helps this last objective, which aims to transform an estate into a single large independent agricultural organism, whose parts communicate with each other like organs of a human body; Rosarubra has recently begun to add to it theOrganic Regenerative Agriculture (AOR) which aims to regenerate the original healthiness of the soil. Traditional agriculture, of an intensive type, aims to maximize the yield of the land without considering the other elements that contribute to the natural balance; in this way, the land ends up being impoverished and losing the fertility, richness and biodiversity it would normally have. Inevitably, conventional and industrial agriculture finds itself forced to use chemical products on the land, further impoverishing them and “stressing” the vine, with absolutely negative effects on the fruit and the resulting wine.
On the contrary, biodynamic agriculture follows a very different logic. The totally natural products that are used on the ground do not aim to make the vine feel good but the whole estate, just as we feed ourselves to make the whole body feel good and not just an organ. We try to get to the harvest with plants as less stressed as possible, and this is sometimes difficult, for example when we have to respond to problems such as lack of rain. All this is done by trying to create a closed cycle as much as possible: using all the resources that are naturally made available by the estate, creating a positive synergy between the elements of the Rosarubra estate.
This is possible thanks to the commitment to the protection of biodiversity . Each plant, animal or microorganism has a fundamental contribution to the subtle balance that makes our estate special, and for this reason we select medicinal plants that surround the vineyards. In addition to them, we use insect hotels, raise recovered rare animal species and attract bees to produce honey in our hives made from old barrels, and much more to make the estate a self-sufficient ecosystem. To further enrich the soil, we also introduce gods into it PRGR – Plant Growth-Promoting Rhizobacteria (i.e. soil organisms that promote plant growth, produced in our undergrowth) called mycorrhizae, which help plants absorb soil characteristics, the exact opposite of hydroponic crops that yield neutral fruit, such as tasteless tomatoes. Collaboration with the plant creates an exchange of information, the mushrooms go deep into the soil and relay the information to the rest of the estate. Just like in the movie Avatar, inspired by the neurological system of a farm.
A production philosophy of this type requires patience and effort, an obsequious respect for the slow work of nature. Precisely because it is the result of an accomplice understanding between man and nature, Vigne Lomanegra is a line of precious, authentic and sincere products, which speak of our land and our work. Free from the pursuit of fashions and trends, these wines are made as the land intended them, with a rebellious and indomitable character, which is not easily tamed by our taste buds.
