Wine Channel Reporter: We talked to the famous orchestra conductor Peppe Vessicchio at Rosarubra Mood in Pescara to present his Musikè wine collection. As a conductor, perhaps not everyone knows this, but you come to Pescara regularly because of your partnership with the local manager Riccardo Iacobone. So, how did this Musikè project come about?
This project came about because I was looking for someone who could demonstrate the changes that music can create in wine through taste, texture and smell, and a friend told me about a wine producer who had also had a significant musical experience. I said …… “There is no better occasion than this!” So, during one of my visits to the city of Pescara, I was finally able to meet Riccardo Iacobone and it was there that I was immediately struck by the effectiveness of the mechanical induction of musical harmony that can be transferred to wine. From there a collaboration was born. He immediately asked me: “Can you come to Vinitaly and show us all of it?” I said, “Why not? That’s the story of what happened. I was not anxious about it, hence why we eventually met at Vinitaly.
Wine Channel reporter: However, Musikè is not like other wineries, why is it different?
Yes, Musikè is unique among wineries, the name speaks for itself; Musikè’s strength lies in the use of musical coordination for special ageing, in which the wines find an important testimony. And the wine actually does change, it is remarkable. Some journalists didn’t believe me and even doubted me, so they brought in the best oenologists to see if the wine would improve with music. The outcome was positive, as the wine achieved an ideal state of balance and thus improved. On a medical level, “forest bathing therapy,” which entails bathing in the forest, is practiced in Japan. On prescriptions of Japanese doctors there is a little blank space allocated to prescribe a visit in the forest for two hours, because they have measured and seen the most basic and trivial data, TAS, blood sedimentation, heart rate, everything that can be obtained from a rough and immediate analysis, proves that immersing oneself in the harmony of nature, just like the forest, where things are as they are, the existence of every being has its own purpose, because of the rules of nature and all its own management and self-regulation. When polyphony is in balance, wine reflects a harmonious atmosphere and inspires a series of connections, even if the materials remain the same but are organized differently, and the palate perceives and enjoys this sensation.
Wine Channel reporter: Master Vessicchio, where was your passion for wine born from?
I admit that the passion for wine came late, it started when I was in Milan, a city that is particularly good for wine tasting because it brings together important wine varieties from all over Italy. It’s like we always say that if you want the freshest fish you either know a friend who fishes or you go to Milan, because Milan always offers the best of everything, and Milan is also an important wine centre, where I had a very good teacher who guided me through this beautiful language, and wine is a language that tells you about the land, the people who make it, and a lot of things. he guided me and I was impressed. This gentleman from Davide Rampelli, I am very grateful to him because he opened the door to a new world for me. From there I moved on and he gave me a starting point, then we met again in some places along the way and hugged again and I thank him for that. Of course, since I gave him some Musikè wine, this pleased him very much as well.
Wine Channel reporter: Thanks, conductor!
