Today we will talk about a magnificent wine, a masterpiece, the umpteenth success of the Rosarubra of Pietranico, in the province of Pescara.

Montepulciano d’Abruzzo comes from ancient vineyards that have exceeded fifty years of life, at an altitude of 380 meters above sea level, therefore with an enviable temperature range, between the Majella, the Morrone, the gorges of the peoples and the sea adriatico doc reserve – shaman.

Raised with the GDC system and spurred cordon, the result of a scrupulous manual of an October harvest, of certified biodynamic agriculture, which together with the recognition of friendly biodiversity, respects the utmost respect for the surrounding environment.

A wine in purity, that is 100% Montepulciano d’Abruzzo DOC grapes, which with the just late harvest, undergo a slight dehydration and therefore an inevitable increase in sugar concentration.

Just think that the harvest will cover only the best grapes of these ancient vineyards from which enough wine will be obtained to fill a single 50hl barrel, representing the only production of the year.

The fermentation takes place in steel, which will be followed by a maturation of no less than 18 months in the large 50hl Slavonian oak barrel, to then be bottled in total absence of oxygen and begin an aging of at least another 8 months.

A wine that tells the story of an experience in an extraordinary oasis where the soil itself and the aromas and flavors generated are the result of an organization aimed at never interfering with nature.

Let’s taste it!

Colour: a bright, impenetrable garnet red, almost black, and with a magnificent texture.

Smell: it is a very intense, elegant and complex aromas, a blackberry jam, plum, cherry, a violet floral, geranium, sweet spices, vanilla, tobacco, it looks like pipe tobacco.

Taste: a generous, pulpy taste, well-balanced warmth and softness with acidity and important but smooth, round, never excessive tannins, and a textbook flavor. The flavor is in perfect harmony with the sense of smell and recalls wild berries, earth, humus, balsamic hints of dense woodland, sweet spices, leather, licorice and a toasting that hooks into the long, delicately almond finish.

A robust and very persistent structure and everything that revolves around it, the terroir, the thinning techniques, the late harvest and the long stay in that single large barrel, complete the uniqueness of this wine.

Born to be enjoyed in moments of reflection but also in company, with dishes of equivalent structure and elegance, we suggest to wait a few minutes after opening to allow it to reveal its secrets, possibly at a temperature of 16-18 degrees and with a nice wide-rimmed goblet.

Perfect in the company of a good book, but also with aperitifs, appetizers, first courses, vegetarian foods, red meats and medium and long-aged cheeses: think about a focaccia stuffed with zucchini and speck, escalopes with mushrooms, fillet with green pepper, semi-seasoned Farindola pecorino.
