Here is the news of Italian wine for the Chinese market.

The month of April was a real spring for Italian wine: the data on a customs basis analyzed by Vinitaly – Nomisma Wine Monitor say so, which see exports of Italian wine grow in value by 98% in China and by 26% in the USA, two very important markets for our country. After the collapse of Australia, Chinese consumers are getting closer and closer to Italian wines, especially sparkling wines. The figures were announced just before the start of OperaWine, an event organized by Vinitaly in collaboration with the famous Wine Spectator magazine in Verona. 186 wineries selected by the American magazine will present themselves to the press and sector operators.

Things are also going well for the central-southern region of Abruzzo, which closed 2020 in balance, but “from March to May the data are very positive, with + 10% growth on the previous quarter, but also on the pre- covid ”, as stated by the communications manager of the Consortium for the Protection of Abruzzo Wines, Davide Acerra. Montepulciano, the prince of Abruzzo appellation which represents over 80% of the total, held up better during the pandemic, partly because it is the most present in distribution and partly because it is the Abruzzo wine sold worldwide (60% is sold all over the world). ‘abroad).

The Doc Sicilia Consortium will offer a rich calendar of activities in Italy and abroad to accompany the restart linked to the wine sector. The strategic plan drawn up by the board of directors of the Consorzio di Tutela Vini Doc Sicilia has already achieved important results: in the first five months of 2021, bottled bottles had an increase of 6% compared to the same period of 2020: there were 41 million 138 thousand 908 bottles produced by the Sicilian Doc companies. The appointment in China will be at Wine to Asia in Shenzhen, as well as on the occasion of masterclasses organized in the area.

What is the most sought after Italian wine in the world? The answer comes from Wine Searcher, who published the “Top 100 Most Searched-For Wines” ranking. The eighth most sought-after wine in the world is Tenuta San Guido’s beloved Sassicaia, right after great wine names such as Château Lafite Rothschild, Dom Pérignon and Petrus. Burgundy disappears from the rankings, while Italy grows: at position number 17 we find the Tignanello of the Marchesi Antinori.

That’s all for today, at the next edition!
