It gives a straw-yellow coloured wine, with a light scent of flowers, slender in body, lively in acidity, quite sapid, with good drinkability.

Ampelographic characters

The variety population is fairly homogeneous apart from the presence of a pronounced round grape in some biotypes and the shape of the bunch, which may or may not fork out at the tip.

Apex bud is semi-open, fluffy textur, white in colour with golden highlights. Leaves: large, pentagonal, tri-lobed, blistered, under page of the leaf presents fluff.

Stem lobes present a closed circle with overlapping edges. Grape bunch is large, of cylindrical or conical shape with evident wings, spread or semi-compact. Berry medium, spheroid, light yellow, transparent; skin of medium consistency, loose, juicy, acidulous-sweet, neutral flesh.

Cultivation aptitudes

Vigorous vine with semi-erect vegetation and strong shoots with medium internodes that easily break at the base in the first vegetative phase. Adapts to different environments preferring hot-dry climates where it can give a good quality product; suffers from prolonged summer drought.

Raising and pruning

Adapts to different forms of cultivation, although it prefers medium to long and with strong pruning; in central-southern Italy, it accepts spurs of 3-4 buds. In the counter and cordon spur raising, the shoots must be properly tied or inserted in a double-track wire to avoid breaking.

Production

Abundant and constant; prolonged summer drought in hot climates reduces production and quality of the grapes, so adequate irrigation or cool soil are essential.

Sensitivity to disease

Normal, a little sensitive to powdery mildew. Escapes late frost but suffers from wind and winter cold.

Oenological potential

It gives a straw-yellow wine, with a light floral bouquet, slim in body, lively in acidity, fairly sapid, good drinking qualities.
