Pra di Bosso Amabile, the Lambrusco of Casali Viticultori that recalls tradition

Lambrusco wine today is offered in so many variations. The traditional one, which from its very name traces and defines its boundaries, belongs to the “Pra di Bosso” line of Casali Viticultori, a winery in Scandiano of Reggio Emilia with more than 120 years of history.

The curiosity of its etymology is quickly said: the boxwood plant, which has also often fascinated artists, poets and scholars, was in fact commonly used in these areas to mark the end of one vineyard and the beginning of another. The directness shown in the countryside thanks to boxwood is found multiplied and enhanced in the bottle. Indeed, common denominators of the Pra di Bosso line are its genuineness and its respect for the true Emilian winemaking tradition, which today has admirers all over the world.

Pra di Bosso

Pra di Bosso, specifically, comes in Amabile, Secco, Spergola, and the limited edition, Pra di Bosso Storico, created for the tables of the finest international restaurants.

Among the various choices one can make, today we uncork the Amabile. All five senses are captured. The cork comes out of the bottle with vigor, a sign of the liveliness and “cheerfulness” of its contents. This wine, of course, cannot be touched with the hands, but the materiality it expresses in the glass immediately gives a great idea of concreteness, typical of the land it comes from.

Here then the sight at the same time: seduction is served, with its deep ruby red color with violet hues. As you bring the glass closer to the mouth, you should not miss the memories it stimulates: the nose immediately recalls memories of sour cherries and ripe plums, with slight hints of almonds to the most attentive noses. Finally comes the most important moment, that of the taste: the enveloping, soft tannic texture ends majestically with a sweet fruity finish.

Key tip: the serving temperature should be kept between 12 and 14 degrees Celsius, to best savor all the characteristics of this extraordinary wine, which represents a true sip of tradition and territoriality. It is no coincidence that Pra di Bosso Amabile is a Lambrusco Reggiano DOP wine, Protected Designation of Origin, made with 40% Montericco grapes, 40% Marani and 20% Salamino. The calcareous-clayey soil from which it comes gives it back that sapidity and notes that make it ideal for the most unexpected combinations.
