The Pecorino d’Abruzzo from Torri Cantine

It gives wines of a pale straw yellow colour, high acidity, with a fruity, fresh aroma and spicy notes.

Ampelographic characteristics

Apex bud is open, it seems cotton, yellowish-green apex. Leaves: small to medium, round shaped, full or tri-lobed, with lyre-shaped stem base and very overlapping edges. Leaves are blistered, smooth on the underside.

Cluster: medium-small, cylindrical, sometimes with a wing, semi-sparse. Berry medium-small, spherical, with thin skin of medium consistency; juicy pulp.

Cultivation aptitudes

Vine of medium-low vigour with semi-erect vegetation. It adapts well to warm-temperate climates and to clayey, slightly calcareous soils.

Raising and pruning

Prefers expanded forms of cultivation and medium-long pruning but can also be trained with spurred cordon, especially using selected clones.

Production

Average and not always constant.

Sensitivity to diseases

Generally not very sensitive to both disease and adversity.

Oenological potential

It gives wines of a pale straw yellow colour, high acidity, with a fruity, fresh aroma and spicy notes.

Good structure. It can produce excellent still wines, that can age well, and also sparkling wines of undoubted quality.
